Traveling with A.I. turned me into a Tourist.
Not all those who wander are lost (especially if you have A.I. as your travel guide). I break down how I am using A.I. to embrace being the one thing I hate - "a tourist".
In this A.I. Guys exclusive series, I wanted to share how I am using A.I. as my Travel Guide through Europe. 🌎 Although I travel a lot, I try to avoid the “Tourist Experience”. I love to experience the unique aspects of everywhere I go. That being said, I may have found the perfect Travel Guide and Assistant using A.I.
As you may know my new business helps launch A.I. Assistants for a multitude of tasks (raiabot.com) for businesses, so I thought it would be cool to play around with different ways you can use A.I. while traveling.
So here is my first “Use Case” of my own personal Assistant.
London’s Calling
My first stop this trip is London. I found a cool spot to grab breakfast but was a little lost on the menu. So I took a photo (below) and asked A.I. a few questions.
I simply asked what I would enjoy the most if I liked eggs, avocado and toast.
And then while waiting for breakfast, I took a picture of the buildings in the courtyard and asked A.I. if it knew where I was. I didn't provide an address, but using visual queues it knew exactly the area. See below.
And if I wanted to go full Tourist, I can prompt A.I. to give me the history.
And of course, as usual A.I. nailed it with the order.
I realize this isn't ground breaking innovation but I think it's a demonstration of how A.I. will start being used in how people experience the world.
I have been using Google for 20 years, but never thought to use it this way. Mostly because the experience would have been more “search” oriented and not a conversation with an assistant. Other travel websites would fall short as well, because they only provide transactional services or very generic information about London. They would have fallen short of telling me about the history of Neils Yard, read a menu and create a better experience.
And finally, the fact I simply used A.I. vision by taking pictures is a major game changer in how we interact with A.I..
Anytime you can 1) create or add a new experience and 2) make it easier then you have something that will have a major impact
The power of A.I. Assistants
I realize this isn't a business example, but it highlights the same value proposition that a business would get from deploying A.I. assistants to their employees. With A.I. it may not be obvious where it can dramatically improve an experience, but once your team starts using it in their own creative ways, your business will benefit.
I was so inspired, I went ahead and launch an assistant on our platform at RAIAbot.com and I am using it to help me remember my itenrary and other important information during my travels.
Here is an example of me texting my A.I. Assistant.
